Author Ellen Widmer featured on East Asian podcast series

Ellen Widmer, author of Fiction’s Family: Zhan Xi, Zhan Kai, and the Business of Women in Late-Qing China, published by the Harvard University Asia Center Publications Program this year, has been featured in the New Books in East Asian Studies Podcast Series.

The podcast talks of Widmer’s book, which examines the works of late-Qing brothers and writers Zhan Xi and Zhan Kai in the context of written works by their parents, associates, and children. “The result is a riveting contribution to the studies of women, gender, fiction, and reform in modern China,” according the New Books Network.
