Terry Kleeman Awarded the 2017 Stanislas Julien Prize for Celestial Masters

Terry Kleeman, Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, has been awarded the 2017 Stanislas Julien Prize for his book Celestial Masters: History and Ritual in Early Daoist Communities, published in 2016 by the Harvard University Asia Center (Harvard-Yenching Institute Monograph Series 102).  Read more about Terry Kleeman Awarded the 2017 Stanislas Julien Prize for Celestial Masters

Two Awards for Asia Center Publications

Two books published in 2016 by the Asia Center press were recognized last week by the Association for Asian Studies. Foong Ping’s The Efficacious Landscape: On the Authorities of Painting at the Northern Song Court won the 2017 Joseph Levenson Pre-1900 Book Prize, awarded for the best scholarly nonfiction book on China published in 2016. In addition, Anna Shield’s One Who Knows Me: Friendship and Literary Culture in Mid-Tang China was awarded honorable mention in the same category.
